Peaking in the 70s with the Irwin Allen school of filmmaking ("The Poseidon Adventure", "The Towering Inferno", "The Swarm", "When Time Ran Out...", "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure"), the disaster movie still rears its head from time to time and made something of a strong comeback in the mid-90s ("Dante's Peak", "Volcano", "Daylight", "Twister", "Armageddon", "Deep Impact" and so on).
