Anna, a game warden and her priest brother, Marius, have lived their entire lives in the African wilderness watching a herd of desert elephants pass their farmhouse each evening on the way to the watering hole. However, poachers have been attacking the herd and slaughtering "her" elephants. With the help of African/American lawyer, Stone, Anna and her brother are determined to find the poachers and bring them to justice. Anna's relationship with Stone deepens during an investigation when her landrover is damaged during a wild chase and the two are forced to spend the night together. Deeply in love and her world in turmoil Anna must confront the hard truths about everything and everyone she has ever loved.
