The Crime of Father Amaro

Aka "The Crime of Padre Amaro". Recently ordained a priest, 24 year-old Father Amaro (Gael Garcia Bernal) is sent to a small parish church in Los Reyes, Mexico. Upon arrival, he soon discovers that corruption and the Church are old acquaintances in Los Reyes. At first shocked, he soon finds himself in a moral predicament of his own when Amelia (Ana Claudia Talancon), a beautiful 16 year-old girl whose religious devotion borders on obsession, falls deeply in love with him and they become entangled in a passionate sexual relationship. Torn between the divine and the carnal, the righteous and the unjust, Father Amaro must summon the strength to choose which life he will lead.
