An Oscar-nominated documentary on the homeless children of post-Cold War Bucharest, Romania, focusing on a year in the lives of five kids living in subway tunnels and how they scramble to survive. Among the subjects are a shaven-headed girl living as a boy, a kid addicted to huffing paint, a boy who fled his abusive father, and a young girl and her 8-year-old brother.
