After an ill-fated holiday around New Zealand they have a bitter row which reveals some of their own deep-seated fears and prejudices. Back in Auckland, Sarah discovers she is pregnant. Sione asks her to marry him only to discover the shocking truth about how his mother has influenced the woman he loves.
