Dr Seuss' The Cat in the Hat
Dr. Seuss' beloved tale of the large, mischievous feline is brought to life in this disappointing adaptation that pads the slim volume and running time by adding extra characters, including risque humour, and launching into special effects overload with wall-to-wall action as Mike Myers dons fur, whiskers, and the trademark red and white stripped hat. Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin are the kids stuck at home and warned to keep their home spotless for their mother's party, only to have that darn cat arrive. Fans of production design should find much to admire. With Kelly Preston, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Hayes.
