Halls of Montezuma

Top-notch Marine Corps WWII drama with Richard Widmark leading an all-star cast of leathernecks - including Jack Palance, Robert Wagner, Karl Malden, Richard Boone and Jack Webb - into battle on a heavily fortified enemy island. Their objective is a Japanese rocket site in the island's interior, and this action-packed story follows the squad as they pick their way through enemy-infested jungles. In the process, the senior officer (Widmark) is transformed from a former school teacher into a combat-hardened leader, and his disparate squad of men is forged into a cohesive fighting unit. Directed by Lewis Milestone ("All Quiet on the Western Front").
