Osama

The first feature film from post-Taliban Afghanistan, this award-winning drama is set during the radical Islamic regime's rule. With women forbidden to leave the house without a male relative, a young girl disguises herself as a boy and takes a job with a sympathetic shopkeeper so she can support her widowed mother and grandmother. Writer/director Siddiq Barmak's fact-based tale stars Marina Golbahari, Zubaida Sahar.
