The Finished People

One of the most highly regarded and criminally neglected of new Australian feature films, 'The Finished People' was shot in Cabramatta with a cast of nonprofessionals. It's a film of extraordinary honesty and compassion that goes far beyond the stereotypes of street kids and delves into a world of daily struggle, their troubled past and dreams for the future. Three stories are intertwined in the film, following three main characters: Tommy, a 23-year-old of Polish background who has been fighting a personal war against heroin since he was 13; Van, a 20-year-old from a Vietnamese family who left home because of his abusive father, and sleeps in a carpark; and Des, a 17-year-old youth who joins a street-gang to get money to help his sick girl-friend. - Electric Shadows
