The Statement

In this nerve-jangling political thriller based on Brian Moore's novel, Michael Caine plays an elderly, mild-mannered man who, during World War II, killed several French Jews while serving as a military policeman for the Vichy government. Now, he's being sought by Tilda Swinton, a hard-nosed judge and investigator out to implicate him and government officials who have shielded him for decades. Jeremy Northam, Charlotte Rampling, and Alan Bates (in his last screen role) also star.
