Seville, mid-18th century. In Madrid, Count Almaviva has encountered a young woman with whom he has fallen head-over-heels in love, but he has so far failed to introduce himself to the beautiful stranger. On discovering that she is called Rosina and that she lives in Seville, the Count sets off to find her. This production of Gioacchino Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" features Cecilia Bartoli performing at the 1988 Schwetzingen Festival. Sung in Italian.
