Emile

While travelling from England to Canada to receive an honorary degree, Emile (Ian McKellen), a retired college professor, goes to meet his only living relatives, his niece Nadia (Deborah Kara Unger) and her daughter Maria, who hold the key to his tragic past and the guilt which has haunted him his entire life. As he tries to rediscover the family that he abandoned long ago, he is forced to confront the anxieties in his memories - the family he betrayed and abandoned at the expense of his own happiness.
