Scream of Stone

Based on an idea by Reinhold Messner about the first succesful attempt on Cerro Torre, a forbidding needle-like peak in Patagonia, Argentina. It only sporadically attains the ecstatic feel of a Herzog film, however the last 15 minutes feature truly jaw-dropping mountaineering and proved good enough to pick up the Golden Ostella at the Venice Film Festival. Donald Sutherland, Vittorio Mezzogiorno and Mathilda May star.
