Dragonwyck
This classic gothic thriller from director Joseph L. Mankiewicz ("All About Eve") is set in 1940s New York State and sees an innocent young women (Gene Tierney) leave her rural home to stay with her wealthy and sophisticated cousin, Nicholas Van Ryn (Vincent Price). Occupying Dragonwyck, a dark gloomy mansion, Nicholas - whose first wife had mysteriously died after her failure to bear a son - soon falls in love with his beautiful cousin. After the pair marry, the new bride quickly discovers that Nicholas is a cruel, brooding tyrant who maltreats his workers and has a sinister skeleton in his closet.
