Director Baker has fashioned the best documentary yet on this seminal artist, interspersing rare interviews with extended excerpts from his "concerts" and TV appearances, one of which is a very bizarre pilot for his own variety show! With comments from Paul Krasner, Mort Sahl, Kenneth Tynan, Nat Hentoff and, of course, Steve "I've just written another song" Allen.
