On the night of March 19th-20th, 2003, two U.S. F-177A Stealth Fighters launched a surprise attack on a secret location in Baghdad where Saddam Hussein was believed to be in a meeting with senior staff. The Iraq War had begun. 300,000 soldiers, poised on the borders with Iraq, moved with meticulous precision. British forces encircled Basra while American armoured units made a lightning dash for the ultimate prize - Baghdad itself. Using valuable lessons learned in the 1991 Gulf War, Coalition forces decimated Saddam's military units in conventional fights - but there were still other, sometimes bitter, lessons to be learned. Sandstorms brought the armoured columns to a grinding halt, guerrilla fighters stalked the stretched supply lines, suicide bombers mingled with fleeing refugees - and the much vaunted Apache helicopter proved terrifyingly vulnerable to the humble AK-47. Featuring frontline combat footage from both British and American forces, "War in Iraq" provides a fast-paced overview of the war to victory in Baghdad, as well as detailed coverage of the many different Coalition aircraft, units, tanks and ships deployed in the war.
