The Indian Fighter
Kirk Douglas is the eponymous trail guide, who agrees to shepherd a wagon train through Sioux territory. But when trader Matthau and his partner Lon Chaney Jr. contrive to rob the Indians of their gold, the Sioux chief (Eduard Franz) is prepared to wipe out the settlers. The underlying tone paints a bleak picture of race relations, but is balanced by stunning location-shooting and a breakneck pace.
