The aimlessness ennui of the "post-punk generation" is the theme of Jim Jarmusch's first feature film. Drawing from the now-familiar world of the Lower East Side, the film follows the dreamlike odyssey of a 16-year-old (Chris Parker) looking for meaning in his surroundings and relationships. Utilizing the logic of a walking dream, Jarmusch has created a gritty, oppressive yet fascinating world. Featuring a jazzy score by John Lurie.
