Close-Up

Regarded as one of the greatest films of the '90s, acclaimed director Abbas Kiarostami's brilliant exploration of a misguided cinephile's attempts to literally become the filmmaker he admires, is based on the true story of Hossain Sabzian who enters the home of a well-to-do Iranian family by claiming to be celebrated filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf (Kandahar). Infused with humanity and wisdom, the film flirts between an extraordinary mix of documentary and fiction, being all at once, concise and vague, touching and comical.
