Hong Kong 1941

This poignant action drama deals with the often-forgotten Japanese occupation of the island state during WWII, as three young friends struggle to carry on their lives under foreign oppression. Featuring the charismatic Chow Yun Fat in an early role, this film won him a Golden Horse Award for Best Actor. Beautifully shot, it also won Best Cinematography at the Hong Kong Critics Awards.
