Deep Rising

Director Stephen Sommers hit the jackpot in 1999 with the first of "The Mummy" films, but in 1998 he was releasing this not dissimilar action/horror/comedy. He set out to make an enjoyable, scary B-movie with plenty of pretty explosions and he succeeded. There's a cruise ship now the grave to mutilated passengers, a toothy squid monster and a cast who knows they're there to be laughed at until their demise.
