The Country Girl

Bing Crosby, in a riveting performance, is the alcoholic singer on the comeback trail with the help of wife Grace Kelly - playing against type as the frumpy housewife - and director William Holden. This excellent adaptation of Clifford Odets' play won an Oscar for Kelly as well as six others for the film including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
