Asphalt

One of the last great German Expressionist films of the silent era from acclaimed director Joe May. A by-the-book traffic cop (Gustav Frohlich) catches a beautiful jewel thief (Betty Amann) in the act, and in the process of escorting her to the local police station, begins to fall prey to the seductive lady criminal's charms. Boasting elaborate sets from the designer who created Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis' as well as lavish cinematography, this psychological silent melodrama also stars Else Heller and Hans Albers.
