Apparently conceived as a tribute to the Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Fellini's beloved home base throughout his career, this 'mockumentary' is a magical mixture of recollection, parody, memoir, satire, self-examination and joyous fantasy that begins with a Japanese TV crew coming to observe the director as he begins a new film. An ode to cinema from one of its most famous proponents that won the 40th Anniversary Prize at Cannes in 1987.
