Strangers with Candy
A prequel to the brilliant comedy series of the same name about Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris) an ex-drug addict who wants to come good - so she's going back to high school. With many regulars reprising their roles, including director Paul Dinello, the gay art teacher, and a host of starry cameos from Dan Hedaya to Sarah Jessica Parker, Philip Seymour Hoffman to Ian Holm, this may not be as manically sharp as the series but Sedaris is unmissable. Incredibly the character is based on an actual person, Florrie Fisher, an ex-junkie who lectured on the High School circuit during the '70s.
