The stirring true story of Ruth Gruber (Natasha Richardson), an American journalist who volunteered for a treacherous wartime mission - escorting nearly 1000 Jewish prisoners from a Nazi concentration camp to a relocation site in upstate New York. Getting them to the US is hard enough, once there she must battle beauracracy and prejudice to secure their new lives. Based on Ruth Gruber's memoir.
