Shikoku

One of Japan's most rural island provinces, Shikoku translates as 'Four Countries', though an alternate spelling can be read 'The Land of the Dead'. When Hinako returns to her childhood home she learns an old friend has tragically passed away. The girl's mother has gone insane, and her attempts to magically bring her daughter back from the dead will have devastting consequences. Not striclty a horror, but a Japanese ghost story about love, life and death; Chiaki Kuriyama ('Kill Bill') plays the ghostly girl.
