Oh! What A Lovely War

Based on a 1963 stage show by Charles Chilton, lampooning World War I and war in general, and focused on the Smith family who have five sons to send off for King and Country. Directed by Dickie Attenborough this eclectic mix of musical comedy, battle scenes and plain old weirdness doesn't always hit the mark, but when it does it's magic. An undeniably star-soaked cast includes such luminaries as John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson, Maggie Smith, Susannah York, Laurence Olivier, several of the Redgrave clan and many more.
