Dancing at Lughnasa

Meryl Streep heads a superb cast in this fine screen adaptation of Brian Friel's award-winning play. Set in 1936 it tells the story of five unmarried Irish sisters struggling to survive in Donegal. The story is told retrospectively and begins with the return of their brother, Jack (Michael Gambon), a missionary who has been away in Africa. From the director of 'Cal' and 'A Month in the Country'.
