This compilation features film 14 excerpts from some of the most important speeches by American leaders, including Franklin Roosevelt's 1933 Inaugural Address with the "...nothing to fear but fear itself" admonishment; FDR's 1938 "Grilled Millionaires" response; Nixon's 1952 "Checkers" television plea to rescue his vice presidential nomination from scandal; John Kennedy's 1963 nuclear "Test Ban Treaty" proposal; a 1965 speech by Martin Luther King in Selma; Barry Goldwater's 1964 "extremism" convention speech; Reagan's 1964 television address in support of Goldwater (which launched Reagan's political career); Reagan's 1987 Brandenburg Gate speech ("tear down this wall"); Mario Cuomo's fiery 1984 convention speech; a 1984 Jesse Jackson appearance in a Philadelphia church; the elder George Bush's 1991 post-Desert Storm victory speech; and Bill Clinton's 1994 Normandy Invasion speech, as well as his second Inaugural Address in 1997.
