Mozart wrote his opera 'Don Giovanni' as a gift to the city of Prague, and he himself conducted the first night, at the stunning Prague National Theatre on October 29, 1778. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Mozart's death, 'Don Giovanni', conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, was held at the newly, and lovingly, restored theatre, on December 1st, 1991.
