An epic PBS presentation, the 'Empires' series tells the story (in separate instalments) of the some of the world's greatest and most influential time periods and historical figures. Set during the period between the 16th and 19th centuries, when Japan went from chaos and violence to a land of refinement and peace, this set features three episodes: 'The Way of the Samurai'; 'The Will of the Shogun' and 'The Return of the Barbarians'.
