John Doyle is a city boy who's never been to the outback. His mate Dr Tim Flannery is one of Australia's leading scientists and thinkers who knows the bush as well as anyone. Until now their expeditions have been confined to exploring the nooks and crannies of the Hawkesbury River aboard the Bismark, Tim's twelve-foot aluminium tinnie that has only been sunk once by John. Now they've decided to head further a-field and take the Bismark on an epic journey down the two great arteries that sustain the very heart of the country - the Murray and Darling Rivers. Two in a Tinnie follows our present day pioneers as they unravel the secrets of Australia's most important river system. Just as Huckleberry Finn divined a sense of the American character as he journeyed down the Mississippi, John and Tim will reflect on Australia as they travel down the Murray/Darling. The state of the rivers and the state of the people who live and rely on them is a litmus test for the health of the nation.
