The Detective

Godard's attempt at a mainstream detective story is still something unique to the influential director. In a Parisian hotel, two detectives are investigating a murder which took place two years ago. Meanwhile, a married couple, Emile (Claude Brasseur) and Francoise Chenal (Nathalie Baye), are trying to extort money from boxing manager, Jim Fox Warner (Johnny Hallyday), while he is also being hounded by the Mafia to pay off his debts.
