Ugly Betty: Season 1
Young actress America Ferrara won an Emmy for her role as Betty Suarez, an overweight, ugly duckling who gets a job in the high-flying world of fashion at prestigious Mode magazine. Ironically her looks landed her the position as the publisher felt it was highly unlikely that his sexually voracious son would sleep with this homely secretary. Despite the obvious discrimination, Betty is a cheerful go-getter who soon wins the respect of the stick-thin doubters surrounding her, along with the hearts of TV audiences around the world. Vanessa Williams and Eric Mabius co-star.
