Arch of Triumph (1985) / The Last of the Belles

Based on the novel by Erich Maria Remarque, 'Arch of Triumph' stars Anthony Hopkins as a doctor in war-time Paris who managed to escape the confinement of a Nazi concentration camp. Unable to overcome his past he plots revenge afgainst the SS Officer who made his life unbearable. Co-stars Lesley-Anne Downey and Donald Pleasance. F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story 'The Last of the Belles' is the real treat here. Set in turn of the century Alabama, it is the semi-mythical tale of how Fitzgerald (Richard Chamberlain) met his future wife, Zelda (Blythe Danner). A young Susan Sarandon also stars. Sadly both these films could use remastering, Alice would ask you to bear this in mind when viewing, as currently there is no other way for us to make these films available.
