Burma

Home to more than 50 million people, and with more than 100 ethnic groups, Burma has a rich Buddhist tradition that permeates the country. However, it is also one of the harshest military dictatorships in the world, with any move towards democracy viciously silenced and the populace cowed into submission. Mass uprisings are crushed and all political opposition is effectively silenced. An active and organised student uprising continues to fight against the government, and the two documentaries featured here chart the history that has led to the current situation and delve deep into the organisation of the student rebellion
