Fidel: The Untold Story

Fidel Castro led the revolution that overthrew President Batista's military regime in Cuba in 1959 and was sworn in as Prime Minister shortly afterwards. Over the ensuing 48 years he has become one of the most iconic leaders on the world stage, regardes as a dictator by his opponents and as a liberator by his supporters. This documentary examines the life of the charismatic leader, from his early days as a college student to leading the first, albeit unsuccessful attempt to overthrow Batista in 1953 and his eventual imprisonment. There is the involvement of Che Guevara in the revolution and his eventual conflicting relationships with near neighbour the United States and reliance on the Soviet Union. This is the untold story.
