Home Song Stories

Rose (Joan Chen) is a popular nightclub singer in Shanghai during WWII and eventually accepts a proposal from young soldier Bill (Vidler) to take her family to Australia. The romance with Bill dies after only a week and her two children Tom and May endure seven years of ineffectual fathers and a helpless mother whom they have to comfort. An ultimately rewarding film about children's love and the adults we grow up to be.
