Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. - The Complete First Season
From the boondocks to the barracks, Jim Nabors' standout portrayal of sweet as pie, goofy local mechanic Gomer Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show" landed him his own series after little more than a year. Here the dim-witted yet appealing Pyle has left Mayberry to join the Marines. Stationed at Camp Henderson in California, his country bumpkin ways repeatedly get him into hot water with his hilariously short-fused superior, Sergeant Vince Carter (Frank Sutton), as he foils every attempt by Carter to keep him in line.
