Act of Violence / Mystery Street

This film noir double feature includes Fred Zinnemann's dark drama about a crippled G.I. stalking the commander that betrayed him in 'Act of Violence' (1948), starring Van Heflin, Robert Ryan, and Janet Leigh. Then comes John Sturges' 'Mystery Street' (1950), an early example of forensic science being put to good use on a crime. The skeleton of a B-girl is studied by a detective and a Harvard medical examiner to determine her identity and that of the murderer. With Ricardo Montalban, Sally Forrest, and Bruce Bennett and based on a Leonard Spigelgass story.
