Un Secret

Based on the autobiographical novel by Philippe Grimbert, this moving drama recalls the tragic events that occurred during the German occupation of France, and the heavy burden it placed on one particular family through the generations. An impressive account of a Jewish family crushed not only by the Nazi deportation of two of its members to Auschwitz, but by an adulterous affair whose reverberations continue to be felt decades later. Anchored with brilliant performances, Claude Miller's film is a gripping mystery and an ever-timely reminder of the terrible power of repression and silence.
