Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion

In 1917, a French freighter loaded with explosives collided with a Belgian reef ship in Halifax Harbour, Nova Scotia. Nearly 2000 lives were claimed in an explosion that was felt over a hundred miles away. In the wake of this devastation a courageous rescue mission is mounted highlighting the remarkable heroism of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. This Canadian mini-series tells the tragically true story of that day, as seen through the eyes of a family who witnessed it first-hand.
