Irina Palm
Maggie (Marianne Faithfull), a working-class fifty-something, increasingly desperate to cover the cost of her ailing grandson's operation, finds all legitimate financial avenues closed to her, and, quite by accident, stumbles on an advertisement for 'hostess'. Hired by the Soho club owner, 'Irina Palm' turns out to be a very successful 'relief worker'. Faithfull is thoroughly engaging in this gentle comedy-drama, styled in the well-worn British tradition of 'naughty grannies'; she is joined by Emir Kusturica favourite, Miki Manojlovic ('Black Cat, White Cat', 'Underground'), Kevin Bishop and Jenny Agutter.
