Sam Mendes directs his wife Kate Winslet and her 'Titanic' co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio in this searing adaptation of Richard Yates' novel about 1950s suburban inertia. April and Frank were the perfect couple, but now with Frank stuck in a mind-numbing office job and April still trying to cling to her acting dreams while raising two kids, their delusions of being superior to their peers are crumbling along with their marriage. Hoping a change of scene can heal their flailing relationship they head to Paris, only to find their problems follow them across the Atlantic. Winslet won a Golden Globe for her powerful performance and was nominated for a BAFTA (she lost out to herself, for her portrayal of a nazi camp guard in 'The Reader').
