The Waiting Room
A deft drama about love and loneliness in London with Anne-Marie Duff as Anna, a single mum who has a chance encounter with Stephen (Ralf Little) in a South London train station. They have an instant connection but both are already entangled - Anna is having a regrettable affair with a friend's husband (played by Rupert Graves), and Stephen is attached to a woman pressuring him to help her start a family. A thought-provoking and thoroughly British romantic tear-jerker that substitutes realism for whimsy. An excellent cast also includes legendary actors Frank Finlay and Phyllida Law.
