Since the disappearance of her infant daughter fifteen years ago, Julia (Sigourney Weaver) has isolated herself from everyone around her, including her husband and son. When she meets Louise (Kate Bosworth), a troubled young woman with a checkered past, she begins to obsess over the prospect that she may in fact be her long-lost daughter. Director David Auburn began as a playwright, adapting his own award-winning play 'Proof' for the screen (with Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow starring), and then wrote the screenplay for 'The Lake House' before getting this project off the ground. Heart-wrenching drama with a wry sense of humour, and an excellent ensemble that includes David Rasche, Elias Koteas and Alessandro Nivola.
