The Best Man

Timelessly hilarious and disturbingly relevant, this 1964 adaptation of Gore Vidal's play shows the bitter fight between two political hopefuls at their party's presidential convention. Henry Fonda is the 'intellectual' candidate, Cliff Robertson the 'people's man' and the race for the highest seat in the land quickly degenerates into back-stabbing, insult-slinging foul play, highlighting the limiting black-and-white view of politicians and the lengths many go to for power.
