The Johnny Carson Show

Late-night chat king Johnny Carson first graced American airwaves in 1955 when, as a young staff writer for 'The Red Skelton Show', he was asked to stand in for the injured host at the last minute, after Red accidentally knocked himself unconcious an hour before the show. Johnny's appearance was so successful that he was given his own primetime variety series, which, with its signature blend of monologues, comedy skits and musical interludes, served as a virtual blueprint for the later 'Tonight Show'. This collection resurrects ten long-lost episodes from its lone season in 1955-1956.
