My Bloody Valentine
A generous blend of gore and nudity, with a decent helping of '70s horror nostalgia thrown in, Patrick Lussier's bloodfest is not so much a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, as a retro homage to supernatural killers gone by. In the wake of a tragic mining accident 10 years ago, the traumatized sole survivor, Harry Warden, goes on a pickaxe-weilding rampage. He is shot dead by sheriffs, but a decade later, it seems Harry and his pickaxe are back. Jensen Ackles and Jaime King star alongside genre veteran Tom Atkins in this blood-and-guts slasher that was also released in cinemas in 3D.
